The Boundless Sublime by Lili Wilkinson ~ ARC Review

Quirky book titles always grab my attention.

I've been catching glimpses of The Boundless Sublime on various social media sites over the last few months. The bright, winsome cover was eye-catching, but what caught my attention the most was the book's title or, more accurately, it held my attention hostage and wouldn't let go!. It ignited my imagination and brought to mind thousands of possibilities as to what this book could be about.

Thanks to the awesome people over at Allen & Unwin I didn't have to mull over the possibilities for too long! They sent me an ARC...and I celebrated by making my ARC pose near various trees and shrubbery because why not?!

The Boundless Sublime by Lili Wilkinson touches on the topic of modern-day cults and is truly thought-provoking. It explores the lengths we'll go to as humans to rid ourselves of sadness and of all the negative emotions and things that seem to tie us down.

But - on a happier note - it also emphasises that courage, and curiosity are our greatest allies when it comes to dealing with life's trials. And that our individuality, our spirit, and our love for life and for the people and things that make us happy, are to be celebrated.

Read on for more info on this contemporary page-turner and for my thoughts on the book!

Scintillating Sleuths ~ Top 5 Literary Detectives

Grab your spyglass and your detective cap, fellow private eyes!

Today I'm counting down my top five literary detectives.

I decided to put together this post thanks to your feedback on a recent poll. And when I began it, I thought: "Wow this should be easy! I mean how hard could it possibly be to pick just a few really good literary detectives?"

A: Very, very hard Oh Deluded Booknut because there are literally thousands of good detectives and why did I decide to pick only five WHAT HAVE I DONE?!

Be forewarned: there are maybe...possibly...absolutely more than five detectives listed! I've paired together some of my faves for this list because it would have broken my bookworm heart to have torn some of them apart (forgive me for sitting on the fence!).

Also I've only included literary detectives whose books I've actually read. So if I've left off one of your faves I'm so sorry! Their book(s) are probably somewhere amid the man-eating giant that is my TBR pile. If you leave me a note in the comments, I'll try to get around to reading them soon :)

So let's get this countdown started!

The Dreamer by E.J. Mellow ~ Book Blitz

When it comes to New Adult no one does it quite like E.J. Mellow.

The New Adult genre has a bit of a reputation for favouring the 'adult' over the 'new', so to speak. In my experience, plot is often sacrificed for over-the-top romance and handsome male characters with little likability. But E.J. Mellow changed this with her Dreamland series.

When I first read The Dreamer I was blown away...I honestly couldn't believe it was a New Adult book! The fantasy elements were unique and captivating, as were the cast of characters. To view my review of The Dreamer click hereThree books later, and I'm still head-over-heels in love with E.J. Mellow's writing style.

And thanks to E.J. and the lovely people over at Xpresso Book Tours you guys have the chance to not only learn more about this great series, but there's also an awesome giveaway to enter.

So without further ado, let's get blitzing!

5 Books That Will Give You Cover Envy

They say not to judge a book but its cover...

...but let's be perfectly honest we totally do! Or at least I do pretty covers are like 99.9% of the reason my wallet magically empties itself every time I enter a bookstore.

So I decided to try a fun experiment - I chose a bunch of ARCs based on their covers only. I didn't read the blurb, or look up any reviews other bookworms have posted. I decided to base my choices on looks alone.

And boy did I find some amazing titles!

Not only are these books the perfect addition to any shelf due to their gorgeous outsides, but I discovered that they also had insides to match. I was blown away by the stories I uncovered and delved into and I can't wait to share my top five picks today.

Love pretty books? Love good books? Why not have both?!
